The first day of school is right around the corner, which means you’re probably thinking about the different things you can do to help your child get ready. As you brainstorm, don’t forget about their smile! There are things you should do this summer to get your child’s teeth and gums ready for the school year. That way they can enjoy a strong, healthy, and even beautiful smile.
The first thing you should do is take your child to see their dentist. Getting a dental cleaning and exam before school starts is a great step because we have treatments that can help keep cavities and other dental issues at bay. Some of those treatments include a fluoride treatment and dental sealant placement. Visiting the dentist can reduce their chances of missing school because of oral health issues.
The second thing you should do is pack the right snacks for your child’s lunches. Whether you believe it or not, there are certain snacks that can harm their teeth and gums. Those treats are usually sticky and sugary products as well as chips and crackers. Instead, pack nuts, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. These treats can strengthen as well as clean their smile.
The third thing you should do is make brushing and flossing a priority for your child. Make sure they brush every morning and night and floss daily. These things can help them have a clean and pristine smile. If possible, they can also rinse daily. This will complete the smile-cleaning job and freshen their breath.
