You might know that there are a few things you’ll need to do if you’d like to keep your teeth healthy and strong. You might know that brushing and flossing twice a day are extremely important. However, did you know that there are several steps you should take if you’d like to help your children establish healthy habits?
Naturally, it’s important for you to lead by example. If your children see you brushing and flossing your teeth, they will likely be more willing to clean their teeth on their own. If your children establish healthy habits when they’re young, they’ll have a better chance of enjoying a healthier smile when they’re older. It’s also important that you help you care for your teeth—-and your child’s teeth—-well, even if you’re away from home. Aside from keeping your smile clean, you should set up two appointments with us every year for your child. We generally recommend scheduling your child’s first appointment when your child is about a year old. This will help them adjust to visiting the dentist.
Eating healthy foods can also help you protect your child’s oral health and help your children follow healthy habits. You may also consider enjoying tea instead of coffee since coffee might cause caffeine crashes. To deal with caffeine crashes, some individuals use sugar, which creates an environment where bad bacteria thrives. We also recommend enjoying healthy snacks, such as fruits and nuts instead of sugary treats.
