Because we know you’d like to make sure that you are doing everything that you can to make sure that you are protecting your child’s oral health, Mountainland Pediatric Dental & Orthodontics has made this helpful guide to ensure you know the basics of what to do to care for your child’s teeth.

You should bring your child in for regular dental check-ups. We recommend that you bring your child in for their first visit by the time they are one, or at least six months after they show their first tooth. This initial appointment will ensure a relaxing and easy time for your child to get used to going to the dentist. You will also be able to ask your child’s dentist, Dr. Matt Swan, any questions that you may have.

It’s also important you begin to teach your child the basics of oral care at a young age. By teaching your child how to brush, floss and rinse their teeth early on, you will ensure they will have a healthy and long lasting smile for years to come. You should make an effort to make this time fun for them. We recommend turning it into a game, or perhaps playing music. It’s also a good idea to get the entire family involved during this time so your child can learn good oral cleaning habits from everyone.

There is no time like the present, so if you haven’t already started doing any of these things, now’s the time to do so! You may schedule an appointment, or ask any questions about pediatric dentistry in Lehi, Utah by reaching out to Mountainland Pediatric Dental & Orthodontics at 801-766-2111. Dr. Matt Swan looks forward to treating your child’s smile!
